This project involved the complete transformation of a typical Barcelona apartment, originally characterized by a long, narrow corridor and numerous small rooms. All internal partitions were demolished, allowing for a full reconfiguration of the space.
The new layout centers around a spacious and vibrant open-plan area that combines the living room, dining space, kitchen, and a small home office. By eliminating the central corridor and merging what were once separate rooms, the heart of the apartment now benefits from abundant natural light, thanks to two large windows that previously belonged to different rooms.
The central space has been thoughtfully designed as four distinct yet seamlessly integrated zones: an open kitchen with a generous dining area for shared meals and gatherings, a cozy cinema corner with a projector, a dedicated workspace, and a playful touch with a vintage arcade machine. This composition enhances social interaction and shared living while maintaining a high standard of comfort and design.
Private areas such as bedrooms and bathrooms have been relocated to the sides of the apartment. These spaces have also been reimagined with improved layouts, increased dimensions, and upgraded finishes, ensuring privacy without compromising on quality.
This renovation aims to celebrate communal living with a sense of joy and spaciousness, while maintaining the balance and comfort of well-defined private spaces—all within a refined and thoughtfully designed environment.
Custom-made furniture was designed specifically for this project, following the clean, functional lines of Nordic style. The focus was on modularity and practicality, with an emphasis on minimizing visual bulk in the central living area. Instead of introducing freestanding volumes, storage solutions and appliances were cleverly integrated into the partition walls, allowing the space to remain open and visually uncluttered. These built-in elements serve as both functional containers and subtle architectural features, reinforcing the apartment’s minimalist aesthetic while enhancing everyday usability.
